As a car dealership, we always advocate caring for your car the way you care for your own physical body. Our Toyota service center near Columbia, MD is a great place to start.

When you give your car the attention it deserves, it will continue to operate at its peak for many years to come.

What Is National Car Care Month?

Hardly anyone outside the automotive industry has heard of National Car Care Month. This is a biannual affair recognized every April and October. The idea is simple: perform general maintenance on your car, both in your own garage and at the dealership.

Car owners can perform simple DIY care. We recommend the following:

  • Inspect the tire for ample tread depth. The penny test is a reliable assessment of tread wear. If yours are significantly low, visit us for tire replacement.
  • Perform an oil check by examining the dipstick. Pull it out, wipe it clean, reinsert it, and pull it out once more. If the oil covers the stick at or above the recommended level, you’re good to go. If not, you'll need to visit us for an oil change!
  • Check the wiper blades. If the rubber portion is partially detached from the wiper or fails to make complete contact with the windshield when activated, then it’s time for a replacement.
  • Check the AC by switching it on and letting it run for several minutes. If the air feels hot or stuffy even when on full blast, you might need to change the filter.

Don’t Forget Professional Care

The above steps pertain to DIY care at home. However, this is only one half of the equation. The other half is maintenance from a professional at Heritage Toyota Catonsville. Our certified technicians perform inspections on all models, including the Toyota Highlander and more. Visit today!
