The latest Toyota Sienna is available at Heritage Toyota Catonsville. The developers at Toyota headquarters, however, are already planning ahead for the 2021 model, and some information has already been leaked. What does the 2021 Toyota Sienna preview reveal?

A Hybrid Exclusive

The biggest revelation so far is that the 2021 Toyota Sienna will only be released with a four-cylinder hybrid powertrain. Under the hood is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine and two separate electric motors. The total output is 243 hp and the same 3,500-lb towing capacity as the previous model.

New Architecture

The 2021 model will be built on the TNGA platform. This will make the minivan slightly wider and longer by a few inches. Side airbags have also been added and is available on both the seven- and eight-seat models. The captain’s chairs also now recline a bit further back and include a footrest similar to a recliner sofa.

New Design

The 2021 model will also see a major revamp in design. The frontal portion was modeled after Japan’s Shinkansen Bullet Train, giving it a sleek appearance. The headlights are also positioned a bit higher and protrude a bit more to the side, giving the appearance that it’s being molded by the wind when the vehicle is in motion.

Aside from the aforementioned side airbags, there are also knee and seat cushion airbags, for a total of 10 airbags. The Toyota Star Safety System includes Smart Stop technology, brake assist, brake-force distribution, and more.
